Scrabble has been around (and has been providing enjoyment) for a long, long time, and with the emergence of the game Words With Friends – which, of course, enables you to play Scrabble on your phone with other friends of yours – Scrabble is played more often these days than it has ever been played before; if you enjoy playing Scrabble, and find yourself playing on a regular basis, here are a few things you can keep in mind in order to improve your chances of winning, no matter who you are playing against.

Scrabble is not nearly as much about the words you know as it is about the strategy you use – specifically, the strategies that will enable you to maximize the points you get on each turn; with this understanding in mind, realize it is also important for you to prevent your opponent from getting big points, and the best way to do this is to be aware of where the triple word score boxes are, and to make sure you are never opening up these boxes for your opponent.

Not only will you want to make sure you are not opening up the triple word score boxes for your opponent, but it will also be beneficial for you to make sure you are not opening up the board in general; when you open the board, your opponent will usually end up benefiting a lot more than you will, so wait for them to make a mistake and open up the board for you, as this will greatly increase your chances of winning.

And when you are working with a closed board, the most important thing of all for scoring points will be knowing as many two-letter words as possible; oftentimes, you will be able to get a lot more points from a two-letter word then you would be able to get from a much longer word, so spend a bit of time with the Scrabble dictionary, and learn all the two-letter words that will help you in the game!

Of course, the biggest thing about playing Scrabble is simply that it is fun and it is good exercise for your brain, but it does not hurt to win when you play Scrabble, and keeping these tips in mind will help you in this goal!
