Tips For Dealing With An Addiction

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

It can be a frustrating and even demeaning experience to deal with an addiction of any sort, as you will often go through times when the only thing you want is to not be affected by this addiction, but when you cannot seem to get away from it in spite of this fact; some people (usually people who have never dealt with the addiction you are fighting) will tell you that it is simply a matter of will power, but in truth, addictions are much more complex and complicated than this.

Simply admitting that you have a problem is the first step to overcoming an addiction; this seems simple on the surface, but the truth is, a lot of people who struggle with an addiction will spend plenty of time justifying this addiction and claiming that it is not really that big of a problem, and this only causes the addiction to become stronger and stronger in their life!

Once you have acknowledged that you do, in fact, have a problem, the next step you need to take is telling someone else about the struggle you are dealing with; this can be an extremely difficult step to take, but realize that it is nearly impossible to fight an addiction on your own - but when you admit to someone else that you are fighting this addiction, they will be able to add their strength to yours in helping you to combat it.

And finally, you will want to understand that it can be easy to get overwhelmed when an addiction is weighing you down, especially if you try to look at the big picture of it, but if you narrow your focus and learn to take things one day - and one decision - at a time, it will make it a lot easier for you to come out triumphant in the end!

There is no "perfect way" to fight an addiction, as an addiction can be a messy and frustrating thing to deal with in the first place, but when you take this approach, you will at least be on the right road, and will be able to take this road step by step to your recovery.

Do High Fiber Diets Promote Weight Loss?

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

Many weight loss programs have touted the idea that a high fiber diet will result in weight loss, regardless of portion control and calorie counting. Proponents of high fiber weigh tloss programs are relying on feelings of fullness to stop you from overeating calorie-wise. High fiber diet proponents are relying on fiber to counteract the impact of high sugar foods, which makes sense in theory, but doesn't always work efficiently enough in reality.

It's true that fiber is excellent for you, especially if you're trying to lose weight. Fiber acts as a cleaning brush that goes through your intestines, scraping out excess waste and promoting better digestion and elimination. And true to rumor, fiber makes you feel full. Fiber helps your body handle high sugar foods without causing super high blood sugar level spikes, which cause your body to release insulin. Because fiber keeps your blood sugar level steady, it also protects you against blood sugar spikes and crashes, which can trigger even more overeating as you try to compensate for the crash.

But can you rely on a high fiber diet to help you lose weight?

It's true that fiber will fill you up, but it will also distend your stomach, stretching it such that you will need more food to feel satisfied. That means you will be able to eat even more without feeling stuffed. Eating a high fiber diet also doesn't stop you from packing in the calories through calorie-dense foods such as icing, custard, and ice cream. The conclusion is it's not enough to simply eat a high fiber diet and hope to lose weight.

The healthy solution? Fill your daily menu with high fiber foods, but pay attention to your other foods choices as well. Use portion control, count calories, and get daily exercise, limiting high calorie foods and relying on calorie-control and exercise to shed pounds.

How To Stay Awake Without Coffee

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

If you drink coffee on a regular basis, it is probable that you have spent years hearing conflicting reports about whether coffee is or is not healthy for you, and in fact, you may have reached a point where you no longer pay attention or even care at all - but while the general consensus these days seems to be that coffee is really not so bad for you at all, there is still the undeniable fact that it is not good for your body to be dependent upon any one thing. And although many regular coffee drinkers claim that they are actually not affected at all by caffeine, they would find that this is not truly the case were they to go a few days without it - and if you have realized that this is the position you are in, here are a few things you can do to stay awake without coffee, even if just to wean yourself off to a point where you are no longer dependent on it.

image

The most seemingly obvious approach to staying awake without coffee is to know how much sleep your body needs, and to get this amount - but this is not quite as simple as it sounds, as each person's body actually requires slightly different amounts of sleep, and what's more, you can feel sluggish if you get too much sleep just as you can if you get too little, so you should figure out how much sleep leaves you feeling optimal, and then you should always aim to get exactly this amount.

Pushing back the time of day when you make your coffee is another thing that can help your body to start being less dependent on caffeine; by either pushing back your "coffee time" by five minutes each day or by a half hour each week, you will eventually reach a point where you no longer actually need coffee at all.

And if you are looking for something that can replace the energy boost you get from caffeine, you should try eating foods such as oats and apples, as each of these go a long way in giving your body the energy it needs!

We repeatedly hear about how fish is so good for us and we should be eating it twice a week, but cooking fish at home can be intimidating if you don’t know how to do it or what type of fish to get. The great news is that fish is not only delicious but very easy to cook. With a minimal cooking tools and ingredients you too can cook fish with ease. Tilapia makes a great fish for a beginner. Getting flash frozen tilapia is very easy.

One of the easier ways to cook fish is to pan fry them. You will want a good quality stainless steel pan.

Start by thawing the fish filet in the refigerator over night. When you are ready to cook, rince the filet off and pat it dry. Take a quarter cup of flour and put it into shallow bowl along with a tsp of pepper and 2 tsp salt. Mix the flour mixture. Place the fish into the mixture and gently coat both sides. Shake excess flower off of the fish filet. Heat pan and about a quarter cup of coconut oil until hot. When the oil is hot add you fish. Cook each side for 2 and a half minutes. You will know the fish is done when the flour coating is crispy and the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Another really easy way to prepare fish is to bake them. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Place a tablespoon of butter in a oven safe container along with your tilapia filet.

Sprinkle fish with salt, pepper, and dill weed. If you wish, slice a lemon into rounds and place over the top of the filet. Place this into the oven for 20 minutes. You know it is done cooking when it easily flakes apart with a fork. If the fish is not done put back into oven for another five minutes and check again.

These are two easily ways to cook fish, but there plenty of other options available. Books such as Fish: The Complete Guide to Buying and Cooking is a great reference and well worth getting to learn many other ways to cook fish. Don't let fish intimidate you when cooking, they are quite easy to make.

An Alternative to an Exercise Bike

If you enjoy riding an exercise bike and are considering purchasing one, you may wish to consider another option first. Do you already own a regular bike? If you do, a bike trainer may be a better route to go. This option can save you both storage space and money. A trainer is a stand you hook your bike onto that provides resistance either through the use of air, fluid, or magnetism. These units take up very little room when compared to an exercise bike.

There are three different types of trainers all with their own unique qualities. You will have to determine which of them is the best fit for your. Wind trainers use a fan to create resistance with the air. They are the least expensive, however a major downside is the noise generated as you pedal. Yet they work well for beginners as the resistance generated is generally on the lighter side. The harder your pedal the more resistance is gained.

Magnet trainers make a great mid level trainer. Comparable in price to a wind trainer, they fit better for a beginner to intermediate rider. The magnet trainers are very quiet compared to the wind and the fluid trainers but you do give up some quality in the resistance area.

Fluid trainers are considered the top of the line, because is reported to provide the most realistic feel to its use. They are the most expensive of all three and still have some limitations. Using a "fan" encased in liquid to create resistance, it is considerably more complex than it's counterparts which leads to more wear and tear over it's lifetime. Some models have been reported to leak.

Discovering Great Ways To Relax Your Mind And Body

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

Throughout all the ways that people go about trying to remain healthy - in spite of the fact that they spend time making sure they are working out, eating right, and getting proper rest - they often fail to pay attention to the important aspect of making sure their body and mind are relaxed. When you do not allow your body and mind to get as relaxed as they should be, this can negatively affect many other areas of your life - and when you do give your mind and body the relaxation they require, this can also have many positive effects on every other area of your life.

Yoga: Yoga is one thing that many people find to be extremely relaxing, especially as it helps them to stretch out their muscles while also working out their body and regulating their breathing - and if you do yoga outside instead of simply in your house (going to a park, or even doing it in your yard, on a pleasant afternoon) it can be even more relaxing.

Stretching: If yoga seems like it will be too intense for you, you can also skip the yoga and simply do the stretching; most people fail to stretch each day, not realizing how useful it is, but when you spend some time stretching each day, you will help your body relax, while also helping it to be much healthier.

Silence: If you really think about it, you will realize that most people spend hardly any of their life in silence, but silence is a great way for you to get deeper inside your own mind and truly relax; what's more, a bit of silence outside on a pleasant afternoon will go a long way in helping you to unwind from the stress and strain of your life, putting your body and mind in a relaxed state.

When you follow these tips, and when you also search for other ways to achieve relaxation, you will find that you feel much better as you go through the rigors of life, as you will have the relaxed mind and body to take on anything that comes your way.

Does Primal Eating Actually Help You To Lose Weight?

If you are currently making an effort to lose weight, you are certainly not alone, as this is something that thousands of others are trying to do each day as well; at the same time, however, most of these people who are "trying to lose weight" end up finding no success whatsoever - and one of the reasons is that, quite simply, the approaches they are taking to weight loss give them no real chance of achieving success.

One weight loss approach that has been growing in popularity in recent years is "primal eating," which basically calls for people to revert back to the sort of eating our hunter/gather ancestors indulged in - which, essentially, means no grains, no processed sugars, and no processed foods in general.

The scientific thinking behind this approach to weight loss is really quite simple as well: basically, the human body takes carbohydrates and turns them into glucose (i.e., sugar), and when the body has an excessive amount of sugar in the bloodstream, it uuses insulin to get rid of all this sugar; this has two side effects, with the first being that the removal of sugar causes a "sugar crash," therby causing you to want to replace it in order to get more energy, and with the second being that insulin is now no longer to perform its other function, which is to burn your stored fat for energy!

Of course, the question that arises from this is whether or not this lifestyle actually works for helping a person lose weight - and the answer is that, if you stick to the prescribed eating regimen, it absolutely does work, enabling you to eat all the meats, veggies, and (within reason) nuts, and fruits you want to eat, while losing plenty of weight!

There are different approaches to weight loss that are best for different people, but if you are looking for something new to try, primal eating is certainly one that is worth looking into!

Great Ways To Get Sunlight And Exercise

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

Sunlight and exercise are two of the most important things you can give your body, as each of these will go a long way in keeping your body healthy in both the present and the long run, but one problem with trying to get these two things is that most of us are "too busy" to try to squeeze in both; for this reason, it is beneficial to know some things you can do to get sunlight and exercise at the same time!

Swimming is perhaps the best "total body workout" of all, as it works out every part of the body while also being easy on the joints and the spine (not to mention the fact that it can also be extremely enjoyable!); of course, most people these days think of swimming at their gym, where they swim indoors, but while this is good for your body, it does not give you that sunlight that is also so important - so if you have access to a pool during the summer, you should also do what you can to get in some swimming outdoors!

Walking is another great way to keep your body in shape, which is something that a lot of people neglect because of the fact that it is so easy it seems like there is no way it could really be a good workout; realize, however, that walking is a great way to keep your muscles moving and to keep your blood flowing - and it is easy to do even in small bursts (during your lunch hour, for instance), and it is a great way to get sunlight.

And in the winter, one of the best ways to give your body a great workout while also getting some sunlight and having fun is by skiing; of course, not everyone lives close enough to a ski resort to ski regularly, but if you do live near a place where you can ski, try to find some used skis at a good price, and buy a season pass to the mountain so you can ski a few runs every week - and watch as your body tones up, and as that sunlight continues to make you feel better!

It is important to look for different ways to stay in shape, but make sure you are also looking for ways that will enable you to get sunlight as well as you look for these different ways; in this way, you can stay fit and healthy all at the same time!

How to Get People To Bookmark Your Website

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

A lot of people spend time trying to figure out how to get people to their website, but they fail to realize that getting people to come back to their website is just as important; after all, someone is unlikely to make a purchase on your website on their first visit (or, at least, the purchases made from first-time visitors are unlikely to make a very big dent), but the more often someone returns to your website, the more likely they are to bring in money for you in the long run, and this will increase the chances of your website achieving success.

In order to get people to return to your website again and again, the most important thing of all is to give them valuable content, but to also make the content easy to digest; if your website is difficult to look at, or if it is full of long, rambling posts, people are unlikely to spend much time on it or to ever visit it again, but if you give them a site that is easy to look at and that is full of short and valuable content, they are much more likely to bookmark your page and come back again at a later date.

If you are able to give people something to come back for every day, it will also help your site a lot; a lot of people make the mistake of only posting new content once every week or 2, but when you provide short and valuable content on a daily basis, people will want to bookmark your page and come back to it every day.

And the following are some other great ways to ensure that people want to keep coming back to you: fun deals and promotions on things that people will actually want, as this will get them to remember your website later, and working to interact with people, as building relationships through your website will cause people to want to keep coming back to your website over and over again.

The more you work at trying to get people to bookmark your website, the more successful you will be, and soon you will find that your traffic numbers are climbing, and that your website is bringing you a lot more success!

How To Quite Drinking Coffee

Get $5 on your Balance +$5 on your Advertiser Balance

Even though coffee is entirely legal - as evidenced by the prevalence of coffee shops all across every town - it is a stimulant, and it is actually quite similar to a drug. Of course, coffee does not have the adverse effects on the body that many drugs have, but if you try to quit drinking coffee, you will find that the withdrawal symptoms can certainly make you feel like you are quitting something much harder than coffee! If you have come to the realization that you are dependent on coffee to make it through the day, and you want to break this cycle, here are a few tips for weaning yourself off coffee - without experiencing the headaches and fatigue many others experience!

Slowly cut back: If you slowly cut back on your coffee intake, you will eventually get to a place where you you no longer need it. The first step of cutting back is to figure out exactly how many milligrams of caffeine you consume in a day; once you have come up with this figure, try to cut twenty percent off this original level of caffeine every week, until you are no longer dependent on coffee!

Find alternatives: You should not have a hard time finding alternatives to coffee, but realize that this does not mean you should switch to energy drinks instead! There are plenty of foods that are "energy foods," and once you start adding these foods to your regular diet, you will find that it is much easier to cut coffee out of your diet.

Drink water: More than anything else, your body needs water, so when you start cutting back on coffee, you should help your body make the transition by giving it as much water as you can. Water will make it less likely that you end up with those nasty caffeine headaches, and it will also help to give you natural energy.

Coffee is not horrible for your body the way a drug is, but it is always nice to be able to have coffee as a "treat" instead of because you are dependent on it; once you follow these tips, you will be that much closer to cutting coffee off your "needs" list completely!
